The Christmas Truce

Image
For our final week of Writing this year (🤯🤯), we are writing a diary entry based on The Christmas Truce. This was a time during the First World War where the soldiers decided to stop fighting to enjoy some of the Christmas spirit. Part of this was a game of football! To immerse us in our new topic we went outside and played a game of football.

Maths Open Morning

Yesterday, we had an open morning and it was all about Maths! Our learning objective was to multiply integers by decimals. We explored the relationship between decimals and fractions and realised that multiplying by 0.5, is just the same as finding half of a number. The children then had a product route grid and had to find as many solutions as they could, before making their own and testing their partner (or parent!).

Writing

Our core text this half term is 'Once'. This is a story about a young Jewish boy named Felix who is alive during the Second World War. The children have been extremely interested in learning more about the war, whilst equally shocked at the prejudice shown during this period. We are currently researching Anne Frank, ready to write a biography about her next week.
